In my current project, I argue that the environmental crisis is due to a systemic disconnection from the natural world - and we can see this disconnection played out in how we divide, disrupt and misuse land, water and sky.  To highlight this disruption, I paint urban landscapes in which I remove all man made objects, representing them as white paper that cuts into/obstructs our experience of nature.  In contrast, my process (foraging for and distilling botanical and earth pigments and painting with them) requires direct contact and collaboration with nature.  The pigments are fugitive and will slowly fade over time - mimicking nature’s delicate and transitory qualities.
